FAMILIES looking for an inexpensive, environmentally sustainable and culturally enriching way to spend Mother’s Day weekend can pedal over to the 19th annual Santa Monica Festival. The festival continues to follow zero-waste principles in order to reduce its impact on the environment and the community while offering a day filled with eclectic music, dance, visual arts, food, information and shopping. FESTIVAL SCHEDULE

ADMISSION AND PARKING are free, but festival goers are encouraged to hop on their bicycles and ride to Clover Park in Santa Monica where a free bicycle valet will safely park your wheels. Those who pedal to the festival will be entered in a free raffle to win a brand new bike. If you get to the event by other means of transportation, just fill out a survey to get your raffle ticket.

LOCATION Clover Park is located at 2600 Ocean Park Boulevard between 25th and 28th Streets.

FESTIVAL PHOTO COMPETITION Keep your camera at the ready - anyone can participate in the Festival Photo Competition by emailing us a caption and photo taken at the Santa Monica Festival 2010 to mail@carsla.net by Friday, June 4, 2010. There are four categories: People, Performance, Food and Environmental Philosophy. The best photo in each category will win $50 as well as the opportunity to have their photo featured in a number of Santa Monica online sites. Please keep in mind, by submitting your photo, you are giving us permission to use it on our Flickr page, in our publicity, or on our website.
