THE FRESH ART PROGRAM HAS BEEN SUSPENDED WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF GLOW.
Fresh Art is a temporary public art program directed expressly to those artists who live and/or work in Santa Monica and have little or no public art experience. Four site specific works are selected for temporary placement in a Santa Monica Park annually in the fall with applications available the preceding spring. Proposals are selected by a panel of professional artists and arts administrators based on their artistic merit, potential to engage the specific community and neighborhood in which they are sited, how they reflect the diversity found within the Santa Monica community and how responsive they are to the physical and/or cultural context of the site. Proposals must be for original works which have never before exhibited.
Requests for proposals to Fresh Art will be issued each spring. Any artist living or working in Santa Monica is eligible to apply. To be placed on the mailing list to receive an application for the next competition, please e-mail the Cultural Affairs Division with the phrase "Fresh Art" in the subject area. Artists must live and/or work in the City of Santa Monica to participate in this competition.
