Visit the airport where imagination
takes flight! |

Santa Monica
Airport
Art Walk
|
|
From the place where the
founders of modern
aviation, Howard
Hughes,
Charles Lindbergh
and
Amelia Earhart,
once leapt into the air,
artists now leap into new
worlds with new ideas.
In tiny offices where
engineers once constructed
models and blueprints
artists conceive new
visions. And in
vast hangars where
schematics were hammered
into great flying machines
of steel and aluminum
artists fabricate works
which carry no passengers or
freight, but take flight
with our imaginations and
dreams. |

The Santa Monica
Airport has a rich historical
background as the former home of
Douglas Aircraft and birthplace
of the
DC3. But in addition to its
aeronautical roots, it has developed
into an art incubator and is now an
alluring destination occupied by a
number of creative venues. To showcase
this cultural hub and all its assets,
the
City’s Cultural Affairs Division
and the
Santa Monica Airport
will sponsor the second annual Santa Monica
Airport Art Walk. This fun-filled
event will take place on March 29th,
2008 from 1:00 – 5:00pm.
